Starcraft 2 Zerg Campaign
- Bring Zeratul to the 3 Xel'Naga Shrine
- Zeratul must survive.
- Escape to the Void Seeker.
Guide[edit]
This mission is a simple dungeon crawler type mission. You start out with only Zeratul, but you'll eventually get 4 Stalkers, and there's another checkpoint where your Stalker count will be replenished to 5. The beginning parts of this mission aren't too difficult. Use Zeratul's ability to freeze all detector units you see, and destroy any attacking units you see.
When you reach the Stalkers, you can start luring enemy units away to attack them one at a time. This is perfect for taking down units without getting overwhelmed. Just slowly advance through the mission, and don't rush things. You'll soon come across a location where there are tons of Scourge flying chaotically. At this point, be careful because a Zerg attack is coming consisting of a few Mutalisks, 4 Roaches, and an Ultralisk. The Mutalisks will hit you first, so take those down. There is an Overseer flying about - try to take it down as well. When the Ultralisk and Roaches come, you can retreat across the chasm with your Stalkers. Use Zeratul to freeze the Overseer attack the Ultralisk and Roaches, and when the freeze time is up, blink across to where the Stalkers are. Repeat this and you should clean the attack up easy.
If you want to destroy the Zerg Hatcheries, see below in the Sidequests section, as the first one can be found around this time. As you continue to move across the map, you'll come across a bunch of Banelings. Quickly blink your Stalkers to the outcropping where they can snipe the Banelings safely. When the Banelings get close, blink your Stalkers across the chasm, and blink them back to the outcropping so you can hit the Banelings some more. They should fall soon enough. You can find the second Zerg Hatchery in this area.
You'll soon come across a High Templar hero called Karass, and he'll have a bunch of Zealots with him. Once you meet him, a cinematic will play, after which he'll charge the Zerg position. Follow him, and you can just attack move the Zerg position, until you see the Nydus Worms pop up. At this point, you'll want to use Zeratul to destroy the Nydus Worms. There won't be any detection in this area, so you can attack with impunity. You can find the third Hatchery now. Once you walk into the circle, a cinematic will play, and you'll be instructed to escape to the Void Seeker. Don't bother to attack any enemy units - just run to the Void Seeker. Also try not to destroy any Rocks. You'll want to blink past them so they can slow down the Zerg swarm. Once you reach the Void Seeker, you'll be granted victory.
Sidequests[edit]
- Destroy the 3 Hatcheries.
- There are 3 Hatcheries on the map that can be killed for one Zerg research point each. You'll walk past the first Hatchery in the middle of the map, which is guarded by 3 patrolling Mutalisks, 2 Overseers, a Broodlord, and 3 Spine Crawlers. Once you see this first Hatchery, you'll want to try to lure the Mutalisks away with your Stalkers, and pick them off. If you accidentally attract the Broodlord as well, freeze it with Zeratul's ability, and take it down. Once you kill the Mutalisks, you should attack the Broodlord by luring it to your Stalkers. You can do this by just hitting the Overseer. After the first Overseer is down, you can move to the low ground, take down the other Overseer, and send Zeratul in to destroy the Hatchery.
- The second Zerg Hatchery is in the bottom left corner of the map. You can reach it by blinking across a chasm when you get near that area. It's where the Banelings were all gathered. It's guarded by a patrolling Overseer, a Spine Crawler, a Spore Crawler, and 2 burrowed Ultralisks about halfway between the Hatchery and the bottom of the map. Blink both Zeratul and your Stalkers across the chasm - the Ultralisks won't unburrow until you're almost right on top of them. Freeze the Overseer with Zeratul, and take it out with your Stalkers. You should now wait for Zeratul's ability to recharge, and you should also blink the Stalkers back across the chasm. Then, you should freeze the Spore Crawler, take it out, then take down the Hatchery since there's no more detection.
- The third Zerg Hatchery is in an area near the third Xel'Naga shrine. You can blink up to an area to the southwest of the Xel'Naga shrine. You'll need to get to the high ground with a ramp to get vision though. Once you're across, move to the southwest, and you'll need Rocks across the chasm. Blink across, but don't destroy the Rocks. You'll want them. Blink Zeratul and your Stalkers over the Rocks, and you'll find that the third Hatchery is guarded by a bunch of Roaches, a Spine Crawler, and 2 Spore Crawlers. What you should do is lure out the Roaches with your Stalkers, use Zeratul to hit them, and when your Stalkers are getting damaged, blink them across the Rocks to safety. Repeat this and almost all the Roaches will be destroyed. You can then just charge in with Zeratul and your Stalkers, take out the Spine Crawler and the remaining Roaches, then take down the Hatchery. A word of warning though, the Hatchery and the Roach Warren do spawn Broodlings when they die, so keep your Stalkers at a fair distance. You can blink to the lower ground to the northeast of where the Hatchery was. ALTERNATE METHOD: You are given vision of the hatchery, so you can easily kill the hatchery from the ground above the hatchery with your stalkers.
Cheap tips: It can be done without any damage: Get Zeratul just close enough to get vision of the hatchery without getting detected by the spore and use stalkers to shoot it down from the low ground with no damage.
